New Expressions

As I mentioned in the introduction, I’m new to blogging. I’m not new to the thought of blogging – I’ve actually thought about it many times but I’ve always been unsure as to whether I’m that kind of writer. I love writing and I’ve written a number of articles, some of which have been published. That is a kind of writing were I have something to say which I feel is important and I say it, giving thought to each word, each sentence and making sure it hangs together as a whole and actually says what I want to say in the tone I want to say it. It means that I don’t write a lot which is one of the reasons I’ve decided to start blogging. Blogging seems a much freer kind of writing where perfectionist tendencies are not necessary and the important thing is freedom of expression. I’d like to have a go at catching some of those thoughts that fly around inside my head and crafting them into some orderly sentences. I’m already feeling hesitant in getting going, waiting for the right moment of inspiration to write but if I do that my blog will stay pretty empty.

Why Segments and Layers you may ask? Well I’ve been thinking about how we present ourselves to others. On places like facebook it may be a very superficial view that others have of us depending how deep and meaningful our status’ are. It could be interesting to look back over our status postings over the past few months and think how someone who doesn’t know us well would see us. With blogging I’m expecting that it will be just a small segment of my life which is revealed through this blog, at times things may not stay at a superficial level and it will be like peeling back a layer and revealing something deeper.  Since a friend helped me set up the blog last week I’ve had a few ideas for posts – now I just need the confidence to turn them into blog posts.
